+1 for DPM trousers, though I take the cargo leg pocket buttons off as a real pain in woodland brambles. Addition of a water proof under layer from EDZ sorts dewy / wet vegetation.
Thanks for the suggestions. Not sure some peoples definition of silent isn't a bit louder than mine.
Silent = makes no noise when dragged past a branch/twigs and especially silent when the myriad small saplings disturbed by your boots slap against your calves. I'm sticking with my threadbare deer hunter rams as I've run out of time, motivation and money. They're not silent but they're not bad.
German Army Flackturn trousers (? think thats how you spell it ) cheep - tough and quick drying , I pick them up second hand always got a spare pair in the cupboard good value great for knocking around ,and they are quiet .
Tweed breeks sprayed with permethrin, warm dry and tick free, tried all sorts over the years now gone back to them, sick of being wet and cold in Scotland with over priced guff, Atb wayne
Lederhosen if you aren't bothered about waterproof and cost. Totally silent Will last a couple of generations and a very natty knife pocket in the right thigh Don't mess about with the embroidered Oktoberfest jobs Get the plain hunting type

You can go all technical if you want, but your requirements to me tend towards a pair of moleskin trousers being the ideal thing. What's more, they're cheap enough that if you have a trouser/barbed wire interface, it isn't the end of the world.
