Sons 18th birthday present ( Swarovski binoculars)

I started with 8x42’s on various recommendations and tried a pair of 10x42’s and it was like a new day - much better suited to my eyes. If looking at the rangefinder version - there is 5g of difference - taking a sh*te that morning would make more weight difference!

I would say get him to have a look through both when you go to buy them and see which he prefers.

Both will be too of the line and mine are now 12 years old and still perfect in my opinion. They have been back to swaro twice for me being an idiot and dropping them but it was done FOC - their support is second to none.

Hope the lad has a great 18th! 🎉🍺🎂

I bought a pair for my 50th . I wanted slc 8x42 ended up with a pair of slc 10x42 great on the clearfellShop around for deals fully refurbished ex demo models are avaliable

Mine have now spent the last 12 yrs in the cupboard.
I have a pair of meopta 8x42 that I use

I am going to throw a bit of a curve ball in. Is your son a bit of a techie? Or is he old school? The only reason I ask is that, I have sold my Leicas and gone fully digital. Bought the Habroks. I know that they will not last a life time, but, you want to buy him something he will use, rather than, put in the cupboard.
It is an emotive subject. But, you will know which may be his preference.

The last pair you’ll ever need; a pleasure to use and no pain to carry.

If the budget doesn’t stretch that far:

Over thirty years old, recently serviced and like new again. A couple pairs of the 8/20 also great, and even lighter than these 10/25’s.

My boy turns 18 this year, me and the wife want to buy him a nice time less present that he will be able to keep forever.
We are thinking about buying him a pair of Swarovski binoculars.
I have never had a pair of these. Has anyone got any advice on a decent pair for stalking and everyday use
I got a pair of 7x42 slc's for my 18th birthday from my late farther and have used them to death. Use them for everything.

They were second hand - about 6-800 pounds but I dont think you can beat them for the money.

He does come with me sometimes, Im thinking 8x42 as a better all round magnification. I don’t think I want to go down the range finder route, as I want these to be a forever pair, I don’t trust the digital element to last long term.
I bought my EL Range in 2011 apparently (so Swarovski said) and they have just needed their first service as the ranging button rubber broke down. I would say they were reasonably reliable.

Still undecided, he has decided he wants to go to a new college in September, as his life plans have changed.
He keeps hinting for a new shotgun, shows me all these lovely guns that different shops get in
My family bought me a lovely second hand Beretta 12 bore for my 30th. Still brings me joy.

Has he got a SGC or FAC? thats first job. Once he has the freedom to shoot on his own then that breeds more interest in binoculars and more stalking gear.
He either has the stalking /shooting bug or isnt interested....
