Squirrel shooting

Indeed, until banned by the very arrogant Seamonster for doubting a moderators response to a query l made.
Nice to see your still about and still posting....👍
So you got banned as well. Andy the Mod was my downfall (I believe because I'm a more accomplished fisherman than he)
They do seem to love a good blood letting on that forum... almost reminds me of the Colosseum in Rome...
It must be a pretty drab forum now. I made sure I put in more than I took out :norty:

A good days decoying pigeon is fine sport if you can get it. A wander with a rifle with a good chance of a deer to drag home is better still, but nothing, simply nothing is more of a days sport than a days squirrelling in well populated woodland using a decent air rifle
It is a fantastic teaching tool for young lads (and young lasses) that if you are being hunted by people carrying arms that even the smallest movement can get seen and shortly then afterwards "deaded".

God forbid that my twelve year old will have to suffer the scourge of conflict but whenever we are out and about and spy a squirrel I always, always say to him "See it's movement that gets you seen."

Evening all,

Was stalking at one of the farms we manage for muntjac and saw loads of squirrels, then bumped into the landowner who said they would be very pleased if we could get them gone.

Was planning on wandering around with a mate and two 20b shotguns to clear them up, or maybe a .22 and a shotgun.

Wondered what people’s thoughts were on what to take, and whether they find shots spook the critters or not.
Have never done much squirrelling before so keen to get a few :)

Have seen them up trees and on the tracks so not sure which way to go on firearm choice.

Many thanks in advance,

Sandy
Had 7 yesterday just walking quietly around with my air gun and thermal on top, I find if you walk the wood twice, on the way back some of the ones that ran away firs time through will be back out and sit tight looking at you.
