This is what Tones will look like, except his has the tapered tang which i couldn't do when i made Cookies one, and Tones is gonna have Snakewood scales. Can't wait to use that stuff, it's superb timber. Don't recall hearing where he got it.

I'll give you a shout next time I'm setting up a call centre in Calcutta mate.
This ones been an ongoing project for a long time, there's an identical blank lurking somewhere in my 'pit' that I'll finish for myself one day.
I've never taken note of how long in terms of actual man hours it takes Me to knock one of these out. I've usually got loads of other things going on, so any knife time is usually 20 minutes here, half hour there, p'raps an evening in front of YouTube with some good tunes going while I do some file work or something. So it's a job to say really. :?:
What I can say is that I pity the poor buggers who have to wait for one of mine! The couple of mates on here that have them can vouch for that.
They've broached the subject with me at some point, a few requirements are spoken about, and Months later I might get started on it, and months after that I'll get something else done to it, and months after that, Suddenly I get to a point where all I need to do is stick on a handle and the aggrieved future owner starts to get a couple of pics! Bit like Cookie yesterday!
We've got a couple'a resident makers on site, don't know what their turnaround time is like, but if you fancy a custom knife and want to support the SD traders drop them a PM.

Dougster or Chickenman are the boys for you mate, they'll have a blade blank or three knocking about all ready to go. Or they could probably be tasked to fit your timber to one for you.
That looks great.
Not sure mines going to be half as good but I will stick some images on here and seek some constructive dialogue.

Took this crap pic of the pair together, just found the other one, it's been lurking in one of those 'Safe places' for ages! The top knife is numero uno, my first ever attempt! Bless.
Goes without saying that the grallocher needs a tidy up and a polish, but it'll stay as it is with no scales and will share the same sheath as the main blade.

You can see how plain it was with very little apparent figure, and see why it was such a pleasant surprise when i started shaping the handle.

You might have filed out the rust pitting!
From a 40 year old spring?
As soon as they get hot the oxidised steel burns out and exposes the pitting. To have ground it all out would've left the steel too thin for anything. It's only 3mm thick to start with on those springs, got to leave some 'body' in it or it would have cracked and/or split when I heat treated it.
Remember this is Amateur knife making, I'm not Owen Bush or Mick Maxen. This blade is my 4th attempt at forging a knife. Besides, adds a bit of a RUSTic charm I think.
