Stalking Show 2023

Good Point @Acm , please could you tell us the planned dates for the Stalking Show next year and how much you want for your/your boy's thermal?
Whatever mate, I feel sorry for you. I’m not a wealthy man but I’ve got enough decency and good will to say “good for you” rather than “what about me, it’s not fair”.

Only it wasn’t about me was it? I have enough about me to know that stealing a prize off someone isn’t right or proper. Dishonesty will never be right in my book. You clearly have different morals to me. That is obvious.

Yep, on that we can definitely agree.

I had a good day out; it’s just the right size, not too expensive to get in, not really any stalls selling unrelated tat, and a generally nice atmosphere.
I picked up the last long Quickslip on the @Monarch Country Products stand, which I’ve been wanting for a while and couldn’t resist, and a few other bits and bobs on the way around.

With regards to the stag calling, I think the bloke who made the noise like he’d got chronic haemorrhoids & was trying to push out a hedgehog should have won.

And that was very disappointing IMO. There's no point having a competition when they have clearly decided that a kid (who wasn't very good and sounded nothing like a red stag) will win. It will surely put people off entering in the future? The prizes were a choice of a Pulsar thermal spotter or Swaro Binos! A six year old would have been happy with a bag of sweets!

His Dad wouldn’t though. In fairness, it was a little harsh on the guy who was runner up, he was really good. A fairer outcome would have been to award the choice of prizes to the guy who came “second” and given the lad a consolation prize.

Went along yesterday, was good, wouldn’t say excellent but I am a miserable git!

Managed to grab a couple of different moras that were non existent at the shooting show earlier this year, was hoping someone would have trophy stands there for my CWD but not a single one anywhere.

Grabbed a ridgeline slip too, voles on the stand tried a higher price until I pointed out the posters around the stand with the correct prices on.

Food displays were good and not too much tat as others have said, hopefully in coming years it will stay that way, also managed to get my CWD measured, although it took around 3 hours due to the popularity of the CIC stand, next year I’d get there at opening and drop off immediately or just send them to my local bloke

Just got home. An enjoyable enough day, but a touch underwhelmed, to be perfectly honest.
Picked up a few bits and pieces I needed, at show discount prices, which was a plus.
The price of food was reasonable, but the quality wasn't. Wish I'd taken sandwiches. Also, some sort of extraction system for the cooking fumes would have made the atmosphere in the building more pleasant.
More than enough scopes/NV and clothing on offer, but a serious lack of butchery equipment. Only a couple of stands with that sort of thing, which is surprising.
Keith (Keith's Highseats) very helpful.
BDS guys as cheery as ever, but very surprised that they don't have a bigger presence at the event.
Forgot to visit @Edinburgh Rifles to chase up Ed about the P-H scope rings he says he's got but now can't seem to be able to find. Have to phone him again I guess.

Talk is that it's expanding into another section of the building next year. I expect the tat sellers will get their foot in the door too. (There were already a few more than I expected).
I reckon I'll leave it for a couple of years before visiting again.

i will be going to the show on Sunday , I have never been before so I was wondering , is there a special wave or wink or some sort of sign to let others know ; yes I am an SD member 👍🏻😂😂😂😂😂
We will be the ones wearing the ‘March and Shoot” T shirts, circa 2007?

OK. I will be there on Sunday, so I will make a point of asking any trader selling shotguns, which one do they recommend for deer? Might be interesting.
However, I am hoping that it will be somewhat different from the game fair, where you have to search really hard to find a rifle for sale among the countless hundreds of shotguns on offer.
I would recommend a 5 shot Bennlli with 1 oz slugs for shooting deer . It worked well for me over the years .😎

I thought the show was ok. Bigger than last year. But still a good show.
A few deals that made the things I bought a bit cheaper, which is good considering vendors costs I'm sure.
I was surprised how many knife makers there was.
Overall a good show. I like walking around and not getting walked into or rude people not saying sorry if you do.
Be interesting to see how it gets bigger without going to trade stands of the same stuff.

What was the result, or did you not have time?

Only 5?!

Simple way to fix this,
Next year the judge can't see the contestants 🤔

I thought it was a great day out very busy on the Korthals griffon stand 🐾

A great show today, mett the folk at monarch and had a good deal on a pair of shooter king trousers , so thanks for that 👍🏻

Went on Saturday and it was very good, but tried to buy a knife sharpener off a stall upstairs, and the chap simply wouldn’t stop talking, so I had to regrettably walk away.
