Stock stud, bipod mount? maybe?

I have recently aquired a 7mm rem with a strange stud fitted into the stock.

Does anyone know what it is/ used for?

Looks very like the sling mounts found on a Steyr scout

Its a pachmyer qd sling swivel.

Had them on an old rifle
