^^^^^^ this I do agree withI would recommend loading what you can actually get hold of and when you find something you like then buy plenty! getting hold of the components you want just seems to be getting harder
I swap from Barnes TTSX to Virtus when I couldn’t get Barnes and equally happy with the Virtus as TTSX.I have shot literally 1000’s of copper bullets and I have never shot a britsh made and never will, unless they make a 100% clone of the barnes ttsx then and only then will I show an interest.
Barnes 130 ttsx absolutely awesome projectile in .308, drive them as fast as you can, there's no upper limit on velocity for these projectiles. I've been using them for years.Any favourites for monolithic copper in 308?
I'm a newbie to reloading and have just done my DCS1 and Boar certificates.
It’s counterintuitive, 150gr starts of slower but maintains it better and quickly overtakes the 130gr. Heavier is better as long as it is stable in your rifle.I load 130gr and 150gr TTSX.
I prefer the 150gr - I don’t think the extra velocity is needed under 300 yards.
i use 165s but in lead really good woodland roundAm I the only one on here who would shoot a 150gn bullet?
All the posts bar mine are all light, the bread and butter weight for the 308 is 150gn lead or copper, lighter bullets usually means faster bullets which equals damage in my non educated opinion![]()
Bloody lovely, from what I can make out , people use light weight copper for better trajectory, but in my personal opinion if you are an experienced rifle shooter you should know what your bullet does at range therefore you shouldn’t need to go light, again in my personal opinion that is just down to lazinessi use 165s but in lead really good woodland round
