Hi all, I'm looking to advance my knowledge on muntjak, other than the DSC1 manual I have no experience of them what so ever, can anyone recommend a good boo of the species please? Thank you

I must be one of the very clever one's because I knew what he meant regardless of the spelling ;-)

So must I...and Wikipedia ....

"The Indian muntjac (Muntiacus muntjak), also called red muntjac and barking deer, is a common muntjac deer species in South and Southeast Asia."

"
Muntjacs, also known as barking deer and Mastreani deer, are small deer of the genus ... The present name is a borrowing of the Latinized form of the Dutch muntjak, which was borrowed from the Sundanese mencek (ᮙᮨᮔ᮪ᮎᮨᮊ᮪)."

However success is more likely if you stalk silently, rather than trying to make them jump by shouting Boo.... :)

I second the "Muntjac: Managing an Alien Species book" I won my copy in the local BDS' group AGM raffle, great prize, good read.

Find a trail with some slots, put up a trail cam and wait a week, loads of info to be had from books.

However the info from a book will not be the same as your ground, also it depends on what time you can manage to get out to shoot as they may well have a different pattern ( at night ).

A few things I have learnt is with them being so small they are very rarely square on, they might look it but you get one out at 150 yards then it is hard to tell.

I have shot more of sticks than from high seats especially after harvest time as they will move across a field so being mobile you can take advantage of that, also picking a spot and getting tucked in works well. I have learnt over time to cover a bigger area on the outside of woods rather than moving through the ones I can shoot.

Good luck with your stalking....

Thanks for the replies, even Fursty (oh that's coming up underlined as red with my spellchecker, did you spell it correctly?:D)
