Suggestions for a solid low scope mount on a Lee Enfield No4

I have been looking around for ways to mount a scope on a Lee Enfield No4 and most of the solid methods (e.g., Fultons steel no-gunsmith mount) produce a sight axis that is high above the bore axis. I have a long skinny face and that doesn't give me a proper cheek weld so will need a low mount. The lowest scope mount methods I have seen so far is either the Parker-Hale front dovetail with the BA21 rear sight adapter or the original pads and bracket method used on the No4 sniper rifles. The Parker Hale method looks wobbly at the rear and the pads method requires a lot of highly skilled and expensive gun-smithing. So could anyone suggest a low scope mount method for a Lee Enfield that is solid but affordable?

There, is, indeed one of those PH mounts on eBay presently. Fifteen Pounds when I looked. Not mine, nor anything to do with me. But they are solid enough that they work. Joe Beatham at Gunshop Cat Hill also had more modern copies made, I believe from steel.

A friend had the De-Luxe No4 with the P-H fitted mounts as mentioned and the as supplied Japanese 'scope. He shot deer, boar, bear into the hundreds. Culling in NZ with the ten shot magazine replacing the factory five shot. He never did mention ever issues with zero problems.

S and K (search as S & K) used to do one that like the P-Hale type used existing tapped screw holes. Or read this:

what is the best no drill enfield scope mount?

The alternative of course is to buy a Fulton's copy (at a price!!) of the cheek pad/comb raiser that the No4(T) used. Even on the original No4(T) and I once owned one the 'scope still benefited from the comb raiser. That 'scope too was pretty high compared with say a Pachmayr Low Mount roll-off on a Mauser 98.

Thanks everyone - it's interesting to hear the Parker Hale rear BA21 mount holds zero on an Enfield. The rifle already has the Parker Hale front dovetail installed so I'll try and buy the rear mount. Perkins (7).webp

Thanks for all the great info - I'm going to try the original Parker Hale BA21 mounting method as that does seem to be the lowest mount option. If that doesn't hold zero I will have to give up on a low mount idea and go for a modern high rail like the Fultons one.

Thanks - the armourer who is building the rifle has found a BA21 mount. Once he has assembled everything and done some test shooting I'll report back about whether it proves to be solid.

Update - here is the S&B 10x42 mounted quite nice and low on the T4 using Parker Hale bases and RAL3 rings. Unfortunately the ocular bell on this S&B iteration is rather bulbous so it means that with these rings there is no fore and aft room to adjust for optimum eye relief. I won't be able to try it for a while so will just have to wait and see. T4 with S&B 10x42.webp

My old working horse Envoy rifle had PH mounts and Pecar scope worked very well even when we put on S&B'S never moved fitted to in place of the leaf sight thou's of rounds down range with no ill effect's
