Sold: Copy of an Enfield Enforcer .308/7.62x51 £550

Great condition Copy of an 7.62 Enfield Enforcer

The rifle is paired with an Alfred Parker ‘Matchmaker’ front target element holder and an Alfred J Parker Twin Zero 4/80 rear sight with adjustable aperture for the No4 Rifle. Serial Numbers:

Rifle S/N: 17691 (Located below safety catch)

Bolt S/N: 17691 (Located on the bolt handle shaft)

Wood S/N (17691 (this is marked in felt tip – there is no etch marking)

Rifle is stamped Alfred J Parker LTD. (on barrel and Receiver).

Proof Marks:

The Rifle is stamped BNP which is the ‘Birmingham Nitro proof’ stamp to 20T, further to this the rifle is also stamped SP surmounted by a crown. This could indicate the rifle is prior to 1954.


Markings:

Magazine displays the “D” (EFD) marking along with S/N CR1256 date stamped 1965.

Front band marked with broad arrow

MMBT stamped

Trigger housing marked with Broad Arrow and 0708

Sights:

Alfred J Parker Twin Zero 4/80 Target Sight. “Match Maker”

But it’s not even close to a copy of an Enforcer for the reasons above.

Maybe it should be changed to a T4 copy at a stretch?

To echo the comment above.

It’s a very nice example of an A.J Parker target rifle - one which was excellent in its day.

It’s no more a copy of an Enforcer than any other No.4 based ‘fullbore’ target rifle is - i.e. not at all.

Disappointed with this response as it is not even a decent "copy" of an Enforcer. Why can't the seller just drop the word Enforcer and advertise it for what it is, a decent AJ Parker target rifle, end of. Otherwise I could advertise my Isuzu pick up as a copy of a Willys Jeep!!!

Whereas there are zillions of gunsmith-built No4 target rifles, there are actually relatively few AJP "Excel" rifles in circulation. This one has collector premium as an AJP engraved "factory" rifle, similar to the Enfield-built models.

I knew A J Parker well - every rifle was a ‘variant’.

Nobody would even whisper that in the presence of the great ‘Ma Parker’ at Bisley though.
