Sunshades on scopes and twilight factor?

Does putting a sunshade (50mm length) on a scope negatively affect it's twilight factor/ light gathering? I see that some people use them to give extra protection instead of butler creeks?

Don't know but a scope can only transmit available light it cannot gather light.
