I’m going through all the replies and Direct messages with their timestamps and will send DMs to the first on the list with first refusal. I’ll get back here if there is anything left

Nice to see sellers not following the forum classified rules. Creates frustration for all concerned if items sold via PM rather than the "first to post" as in the rules
Im in the same boat as you, 1st to comment for the tumbler, spent most the day yesterday checking for inbox msgs for payment details to be greeted with item now sold, hey ho you live you learn.

Where in the rules does it say this out of interest? Not questioning you but haven't seen this rule before
I may have to wind my neck in there. I was sure I had seen that rule in black and white in the classified rules..........I cant see that it is though? Maybe was a hallucination or maybe it was removed at some point?

Still, it's at least something that's generally adopted to avoid irritating potential purchasers. It also stops you getting a load of messages as folk know the item is likely sold, and then will be marked sold once transaction finished......

Always tricky as often PMs are part of a price negotiation or query hence folk post "PM sent"

SD is generally a great place to buy and sell and things like this are frustrating

I've not been here very long and presume not to DM someone directly first without saying that you have done so, it's etiquette

Sorry didn’t mean to upset anyone. I used the timestamps of both DMs and forum posts to determine who got first refusal. I thought that was the fairest way of doing it. I haven’t sold anything on here before.

I can see it from both sides to be honest,
I have lost out on stuff because I was polite and responded on the forums first as soon as it was posted only to be told that someone already DM’d and they had first dibs - I can understand why because some members posting for sale items don’t click the “follow” or something so they don’t get notified so I always try and “reply” to the post which generates the notification to the seller for sure

I have also had situations where I don’t want to post anything on the open forum in relation to certain items like firearms and ammunition because I don’t specifically share what type of firearms I may or may not own (I can neither confirm nor deny) 😉 so in that case I might send a DM so I think it would be difficult to put such a rule in place
