swapping scope between multiple rifles - any experiences ?

I am in the process of buying an Alpex 4k and putting it on my Blaser R8. Require a new mount as have a Z8i on a Swarovski rail. Can’t decide if I should put on a new mount dedicated to the R8 or put on a picatinny so I can take Alpex off and put it on my .17 (Tikka T1x)
Gets a bit pricey with picatinny and ring mount. Been looking at Innomount Zero mounts with hand tightening torque.
Other alternative is buy a DNT Zulus dedicated for the .17?? Not much more expensive than the double mount!

First thing you need to do is have picatinny rails on both rifles
Then mark the position of the scope rings on the rail on each rifle when you zero so you can always put the scope back on each rifle in exactly the same place and pull the scope backwards when tightening the scope on the rail
When you swap the scope between rifles remember to change both the zero profile and the ballistic profile to suit the rifle you are going to use
Done properly, the results can be good, but don't expect to put the scope on your 452 after having fired a few shots with it on the 243 and expect to head shoot bunnies at 100 yards - it's never going to be as good as a scope fitted permanently to a rifle

Cheers

Bruce
Bruce,
Are you sure about pulling the scope backwards before tightening?
Cheers,Ken.

I've been swapping my 4K between a T3X in 223 and a T1X in 17HMR and not had an issued with losing zero. Using Sportsmatch one piece mounts on the scope and picatinny rails on both rifles. I was skeptical at first but not had any problems so far.

Mark position of mounts on rail with a fine red marker. Then photograph on your phone!
I use Burris mounts so take central bolt out and if you have a good rail and your mounts are correctly aligned you should be able to slide the scope off the rail.
EGW rail on .204. Britania on .243s.
I tork up by feel. Use a screw driver with correct torxs or Allen bit.

My solution is mounting pivot or claw bases (you can buy bases that fit on Sako, Tikka without gunsmithing) and mounting all scopes on corresponding rings, keep in mind that iam talking about modern standardised mounts, not old suhl stuff.

I then keep a little notebook woth corresponding settings for my rifles on each scope and simply dial when i switch.
