Swazi or Stoney Creek Jacket?

Thank you for advice on the previous thread. I am looking to get a jacket (full zip rather than smock). The top priority is waterproof (without having to wax), silent and breathable. The top 2 ATM look like Swazi and Stoney Creek (Wapiti or Stillwater). Though I do like the look of the Stow It Stoney Creek Jacket. I know lots of people like the Rivers West and they are significantly cheaper so also a possibility. I's appreciate your thoughts if you have experience with these items.

I've had the Wapiti for 14 years. It's been a good jacket, but slightly passed its best now I think.

I've got stow it jacket, it's ok but only chest pocket and cuffs are basic. Have matching dreambull trousers and have worn bad and leak and only been worn for loading one season. I've got swazi tahr xt with no issues

How quiet is the stow it?

OK but wouldn't be my choice and probably better smock available for the money. The fabric looks like it could perish where it creases. My trousers wore bad on the seams and not cheap for waterproofs, berghaus deluge are half the price and last years

I have Berghaus gear ATM - trousers and jacket. It's great equipment but just so noisy. That is what I am trying to avoid

I'm looking more and more at the Rivers West stuff... sounds a bit sweaty but quiet and v waterproof! Maybe you just can't have all 3!

My pal called his rivers sweat 🥵 shooterking or swedteam would probably be my next choice. I did get a sitka gear and was in some snotty weather on hinds and it never let a drop in

God ...this is so hard. I really want to invest in a one time purchase of decent gear and I just can't see the wood for the trees!

What I liked about RW is the fleece - and the silent nature of that. Shooterking looks like it's made of that Swedteam looks a bit more 'crispy'

Swazi gear is expensive probably get equivalent smock for half the price, ive not seen shooterking or swedteam but people usually have good things to say about there gear. Another choice would be game i took a punt on there stealth trousers and very good for £39 delivered as good as anything ive tried

Good advice, cheers, I was going to get a pair of the trousers but wont bother now.

Bought a Swazi Kagoule on Oct 2020 returned it Dec 2020 got a refund as it leaked through the backs of the arms, company wanted to test it and send it away for testing but I got wet 3/3 times in heavy rain! Bought a shooterking very impressed so far very tough material, half price of the Swazi and so far dry!

I have Swazi stuff which has lasted well.

I have fairly new Stoney Creek stuff I think is well designed.

I have a Kuiu jacket that I always seem to choose as the one too grab from the cupboard.

If you’re looking for a good investment in your hard earned money Kuiu is well worth considering.

Lifetime guarantee on workmanship and top quality kit.

I'm having going on with stoney creek about trousers. Said send them back but want proof of purchase and only 1 year warranty won't be buying anymore gear from them. Kuiu have sale on at moment, prices are good but post was expensive but it is coming from America

Which kuiu jacket you using?

Not much help for your thread but I’ve used Swed team for years and although a bit pricey you definitely get what you pay for, great clothing.

I'm using swedteam too.... seems good stuff.. .... shooterking gets good reviews from lads who wear it for its intended purpose....
I've rivers west too.. keeps you dry jut takes forever to dry out and with layers underneath you will sweat...

Have a look at the taiga rampart jacket.... they do a green version and by allacoounts its good gear, some of the sf lads use it ... not tried one myself but will do when my current jackets wear out or when I can sneak into my ppe budget lol...
