A few years back I walked around a small piece of woodland in Cumbria. Was nothing much, mainly sitka spruce with some native regeneration. It was cheap, there was sign of Roe deer and it was free of inheritance tax after two years, so I bought it. It was probably the best thing I have ever purchased. It means I have somewhere to go and shoot that is my own. I visit alot and shoot very little but the freedom of having the land to walk on and to stalk is great. I believe I would feel the same if I had exclusive rights to it rather than owning it.
Is £750 expensive, if that means you have exclusive rights to 150 acres to walk and stalk wenever you want. The freedom to just pick up your rifle and go when it suits you, is a real privilege.

land

Hi we are a syndicate looking for land for 5 guns and are willing to pay the going rate for a large block could you please send details if any still available. we all carry dsc level 1 and one has level 2 you can contact me at alexwhittle@hotmail.co.uk. The reason i am enquiring is we have just been shafted with a lease in the borders.
All

I am looking at letting some of my permissions to syndicate rifles. There are a few blocks and below is some detail to try and answer some questions.

Land is available in Scotland and is within 30 mins of Glasgow.

Blocks vary between 150 acres and 1000 acres.

All game is included, Hare, Game Birds, woodcock, wildfowl (some area's have lakes) DEER of course.

Cost, Rather than go for Max guns i only at present want to cover costs, land costs around £5 an acre to lease therefore a 1000 acre block with 5 rifles on it would cost each rifle £1000 per year, THESE ARE NOT LAMPED OUT FC BLOCKS they are private investment woodlands.

I will not put more than 5 rifles on a 1000 acre block and ask that all people book on and off, and respect that every rifle has an equal right for stalking, sharing the prime rut times etc....

The smaller say 150 acre blocks would suit one rifle for exclusive use, one of these blocks produced 9 roe and one red stag last year.

All that you shoot belongs to you.

People without DSC level one can be a syndicate rifle as long as they have one accompanied stalk with us, demonstrate good practice and undertake to complete the level one in the first year.

The rifles have a duty to stalk and cull, timber crop protection comes first.

How to justify to yourself

When you are paying on average £150 per day for stalking plus trophy fee's you are looking at a min of £200 per day, have paid stalking for more than 5 days per year then it is wise to get a syndicate rifle slot as you are at break even.

Now i know i may get some flak from the people who get land for three and sixpence, make the most of it you will be surprised when it gets re tendered !

Still interested, then send me a PM and i will put you on the list for all the details to be sent to you so please provide your e mail.

Hi Alex

I appreciate your keenness to use the site to get some stalking, but it is a requirement of the site to introduce yourself to the members before making your first post.

Only good manners and all that.;)

Alex,

like Thar said your keeness is appreciated, and I am sorry to hear that you got shafted, but unlike stalking manners cost nothing. It is a requirement of the site that provide an introduction so that we at least have a rough idea of who you are, location, experience etc. Just showing up and looking for stalking is not really on especially for five people. I'm just wondering if you would have bothered with the site at all if you were not after a lease or a syndicate, or maybe I'm just being cynical.
