Just noticed our 6 month old Spaniel has a double upper canine....I assume this is nothing to worry about and will drop out but just looks uncomfortable!

Can you take a front-on view please?

Retained deciduous teeth are occasionally a problem as they can affect the direction in which the main canines grow, pushing them eg forwards and inwards. If this is mild and doesn't cause the adult tooth to rub other teeth or dig into the gum, then it should be fine. A further problem is that the gap is a trap for food and then gum disease. There is already some inflammation there. As they should be gone at 6 months, I'd probably for taking it out. But I'd need to see it to be sure...

Post lockdown trip to the vets!

My lab had the same about the same age. Just fell out itself with no problems. I'd just keep an eye on it :thumb:

Thanks, the pup looks really happy to co-operate. It looks fairly straight so I suspect your only issue is food trapping. It may just fall out and the old approach was a couple of hard chews. However, Iv'e seen enough of these with decent roots that end up having a long term impact on the other teeth, so I'll still say check it out.
