Thanks to London Metropolitan (The MET) - lightning quick variation

In a moment of madness I decided to change my perfectly adequate Ruger 77 .22LR rifle for something a bit more modern
I settled on a CZ457 MDT which I’d seen in SHC Exeter
Went there, confirmed my decision, traded in my Ruger and duly submitted a one-off-one-on, like for like, variation request to The MET
Expecting the usual painfully slow process

But I was wrong!
Paperwork would have reached the FET on 23rd of June at the earliest
To my delight I received my updated FAC on 3rd of July
Only seven working days to process!!
Thanks to the FET for their good work, really appreciated
They were quicker to do the variation than I’ve been to post about it - oops

Yup added .22LR to my ticket for work, took 10 working days from online to receiving new ticket, good service from the Met

Glad you're happy about it, but there's really no good reason why it ought take any more than 2 working days. We have just become accustomed to disgracefully bad delivery of public services.
I think very few would applaud a private company taking that sort of time to perform similar work.
