Father in law wants a new pair of the Black Islander deluxe boot gaiters for his Christmas.

No answer from Black Islander via telephone no.

Web site states that they are taking a bit of time off and that you can't buy anything at the moment.

Anyone local (Ross-shire) got any idea when normal service shall resume?

This may not be helpful but i hope it is...

I have the Black Islander deluxe gaiters and they are great, but next time round i think i will go with Monarch Country Sports Mark 2 gaiters. Monarch are also great to deal with.

Probably the best alternative out there.

We took over Black Islander a couple of years ago and have been more or less closed for the past year due to unforeseen health reasons.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Black Islander but it was not from the current owners so it might be wise to state that in your post before you comment on our customer service

As per below, are you the same person who sent me a PM last August looking for a pair of BI boots for you to wear on a long term test ?

"good morning ,i wont buy black islander boots because of very bad experience with the previous owner but i do wear high leg boots every day of the week and if, its a big if, you ever want a pair put on long term test drop me a pm.i wish you good fortune for the future."

I can’t praise John at the Black Isle company enough. Very genuine and honest guy. I think anyone who had issues with the previous owner will find John a lot easier to deal with.
 
good afternoon,a quick up date on my response ,this was through black islander but before it was taken over, I have no reports to add about the new owners as I have never had any dealings with them
 
iirc..... my first pair of Black Islander Diotto boots were very good... they lasted 4 seasons of beating 3 times a week in bramble country.

My second pair of Diottos bought at the Midland lasted til the Christmas before they leaked and were quickly replaced by BI..... I think this latest pair were the first of the non-Diottos and they also lasted 4 seasons.

The pair replacing those have also done 3 years so far........

For boots that need no maintenance, can be worn day on day without needing to be dried out and resist brambles, they’re bloody brilliant...... quite unlike my Meindls which are high maintenance in comparison.....

Basically, I got the impression that Diotto shafted Black Islander with a reduction in quality and left them in the lurch.

Are there any plans for new boots from black island

The deitto boots at the moment are similar to what your company used to sell, but the deittos could do with a few improvements.

It would be good to have another boot on the market
 
Black Islander deluxe gaiters arrived yesterday.
Father in Law shall be well happy with his present on Christmas Day.
