Don't let them get you down mate, no need to slash your wrists!!Been a difficult week, I almost shuffled off this mortal coil on Monday but I’m still here and my apprentice and his brother have really stepped up, I was up there with them yesterday morning and we’ve done a few feed areas and came up with a little plan of what we will do next Saturday, with me not being up there this week we are a little bit behind but this shouldn’t be a problem for the first day as my intention is just stir them up a bit View attachment 443688View attachment 443689View attachment 443690View attachment 443691

Here here!Well I’m all set for tomorrow, I’m aiming for a 40/50 bird day tomorrow and after feeding today I’m pretty sure I could end their days shooting with one drive, so some selected beating will be required and my pre shoot speech will be very much about selective shooting, and if anyone gets carried away there will be hell to pay as me and young Josh have put a lot of work into it this year with pretty much no help from anyone else in the syndicate, we’ve created 2 other small drives with the possibility of another bigger drive later in the season, we’ve made new feed areas and shelters and we have doubled the amount of feeders we had last year, so they better show some appreciation in the way of selective shooting and more importantly to me, letting the birds get up, as this is the first time they will of flown for their livesView attachment 444419
Aye good man. Hope it's a good start to a good season mate. You gonna have to share your tips this year with young josh????more importantly to me, letting the birds get up, as this is the first time they will of flown for their lives
I’ve been feeding different this year, where as everyone around me is just using wheat, I’m using, wheat, split maize and broken beans, and I’ve found it very easy to move them with maize, I also use bird puller but mainly to swap them over from pellet because I get pellets with aniseed on them so the bird puller smells the same and they don’t tend to empty feeders onto the ground looking for one bit of pelletHere here!
3 and abit weeks now till our 1st day. I know the graft all to well now. Having abit of a mare moving birds to where I want them but solved that with some bird puller and an oil slurry soaked rag hung in trees where I need them. Darkerer evenings don’t helpgone from 3+ hours after work to about 45mins so had to start bunking off! I’m nervously excited!
I know, I don’t mind sharing the day tips with him and he deserves it but I’ll have to draw the line at the end of season whip roundAye good man. Hope it's a good start to a good season mate. You gonna have to share your tips this year with young josh????![]()

Early on in the season with us I could easily do them a 100 bird day but what bothers me is half of them don’t take birds at the end of the day, so 40/50 bird days are what they will get because that number of birds will go, still annoys me a bit that some are happy to shoot them but don’t want them after they have shot themOur 4th day tomorrow and not that it really matters but we are averaging about 110 head
The weather is looking like a proper shoot day tomorrow
