THE PRETEND KEEPER

Well as the better half is in bed with the bat flu I thought I’d go and have a wander, seen 3 bucks and no doe’s which was strange as there’s normally a few around here, there does seem to be a lot of bucks about, anyway I decided on this battle scarred old boy, mainly because he was closer to the van than the other two, a simple 75 yard neck shot, just the way I like them, it really was a lovely evening for a walk out, I must of sat for half an hour just listening to the curlew, I really do love the sound they make 👍

I’ve been told between £5.50 and £6 but like everything it depends on energy costs closer to the time, the lad we get them from now only supplies small syndicates so it’s on a much smaller scale, hopefully we can keep the members fees the same because at the minute they are paying a little under £70 a day
Crikey! £70 a day? Be keen to know what they can expect for that - at current driven phezzie (spellcheck wants to write “prezzie” - maybe it knows best!) prices that is about 1.1/1.2 phezzies!
Just interested for comparisons as I help run a small shoot in NI with 8 members and we only put out 300 per season.

We put down 2500 pheasants and 500 partidge
Shoot 10 days
£3500 a gun

The lads have a night or two on the ducks - bit of deer shooting - and a bit of fox and pigeon shooting if they want it
We shoot 12 guns
And last year returned 48 percent - but more importantly we had a right good old laugh

I have 16 members and it’s stand one / beat one, unless you are my guest, then you will stand all day and it’s free
They pay £550 and get 8 days, normally about 6 drives in the day, I’ve got between 4 and 6 really good drives depending on what part of the season we are in and the other drivers are smaller but fill the day in nicely
We aim for between 40/50 bird days, I don’t know of anywhere else around here that can offer shooting like this for that money, I’ve got a list as long an my arm of people who want to join 👍

Nice old boy there mate. I also love the sound of the Curlew ...luckily still plenty of them up North 👍

Yes, he certainly looked like he’d lived a life, did anything show for you yesterday evening
Nothing showed. I tested my thermal last night and it is fantastic.
I spotted a fox , badgers , roe and loads of rabbits.
Loved the image quality 👍

We put down 600 for 11 guns. Works out ten guns in the line with one guy who's knees are gone stands where he wants. I had to up the fees by £50 this year to £550. All the guns were more than happy. For £55 a day I think it's good value.
But as stav pointed out the more effort the lads put in during the closed season the more they will get on match day.
hang on that was my rugby coaches speach 😆

Excellent - 12 days for 48% is c. 120 birds per day per my reckoning never mind the bonus ducks/deer etc…!
