were rearing some poults for our own small shoot and were hoping to put the poults back into the runs from the ex layers. There is still a cover of grass and we will feed them medicated feed with flubenmix and avatec. What do you add to the water to stop the gapes?I have in the past but I treat for gapes in the water now and I also do 2 cycles of medi feed, when I limed the 2 release pens I did it at the end of the season to allow it to work well before the next season’s birds were introduced to the pens![]()
I’ve just had a look in the garage and it’s not for treating gapes what I used last season, it’s a tonic additive that a keeper gave me, I did use vermX ( I think that’s what it was ) liquid but the keeper told me it was rubbish and to just use the flubenvet medi feedwere rearing some poults for our own small shoot and were hoping to put the poults back into the runs from the ex layers. It won't be far. I couldn't find one the other week, it was just behind some grass.Well I’ve had a bit of a mare this evening, I went up for my bait and wait fox at the shoot, I checked the camera as soon as I got to the ride and sure enough it’s been there between 21:40 and 22:50 over the past two days, so I set up about 75 yards away and waited, been eaten alive by bugs it was 22:20 when I spotted heat in the shape of a fox, scope on and waited for it to come out of the dip, crosshairs on it and I heard the thud and seen it fall over, waited 15 minutes, just in case and then walked up to get it, no fox therehad a look around but no fox, so I checked the camera, sure enough there’s the fox, you hear the crack of the .223 and the fox falls over, then a second later it flips over and through a bush, bingo ( I thought) looked through the bush with the thermal, no fox, I then spent 40 minutes looking for heat in the darkness without finding the fox, now this doesn’t happen very often but when it does it drives me mad, I’m back up there in the morning and I’m going to have a good look for it, I can’t believe it’s got far but then again I don’t know why I couldn’t find it with the thermal View attachment 313059
Exactly same other week, grass I'd cut & rowed up. Spent ages looking, then found it pretty much where I started in first place! It won't be far. I couldn't find one the other week, it was just behind some grass.
Sure you'll find it mate, weird the things that can obscure thermal occasionally.Well I’ve had a bit of a mare this evening, I went up for my bait and wait fox at the shoot, I checked the camera as soon as I got to the ride and sure enough it’s been there between 21:40 and 22:50 over the past two days, so I set up about 75 yards away and waited, been eaten alive by bugs it was 22:20 when I spotted heat in the shape of a fox, scope on and waited for it to come out of the dip, crosshairs on it and I heard the thud and seen it fall over, waited 15 minutes, just in case and then walked up to get it, no fox therehad a look around but no fox, so I checked the camera, sure enough there’s the fox, you hear the crack of the .223 and the fox falls over, then a second later it flips over and through a bush, bingo ( I thought) looked through the bush with the thermal, no fox, I then spent 40 minutes looking for heat in the darkness without finding the fox, now this doesn’t happen very often but when it does it drives me mad, I’m back up there in the morning and I’m going to have a good look for it, I can’t believe it’s got far but then again I don’t know why I couldn’t find it with the thermal
