I miss a bit of squirrel shooting. Over the years I have shot hundreds with the air rifle and the shotgun. But as with where Ray lives there are only reds here so unless some idiot introduces greys I can't see me shooting any more.

Does anyone eat them? I have heard they taste quite good but are a devil to skin.

Skin them?

I was told to pluck them. It all makes sense now...

Used air rifle and bait stations up until today. Turns out CCI quiets work well too, who knew!

Enjoyed a walking session rather than the cold seat approach and bagged four this morning. This was the first blood for the new (to me) .22

Strangely today was the worst Autumn days squirrel shooting I can recall. They just wouldn’t put in an appearance and it was if the woods were devoid of them.

I do seriously wonder if this year’s draught has accounted for large number of the critters.

Any self-respecting squirrel is clearly tucked away dry & warm this morning as I’ve not seen one but I did bump into a fellow hunter with impeccable taste indeed scope rings & mounts:
