The Ultimate Tikka T3 picture thread

The 308 sized AICS mags/mag system is the easiest to fit. 223 plastic mags won't run unless filed narrower left/right of the feed lips.
The 300wm/30-06 sized AI mags and mag system is finicky to fit and in some cases about one mm needs to be taken off the trigger unit. Might not be really needed but I also took off a bit on the front of a 300wm ai magazine to present the cartridge better. Once set up right and action + mag system is bedded properly they function a dream.

Am thinking it might be more hassle than it's worth for a 22-250.....

Left hand T3, Lothar 8 twist, medium palma profile, chambered 6.5 x 47 Lapua, replacement alloy shroud, worked trigger, fitted and bonded pica tinny rail, pillars and devcon bedded into Manners stock with spigot fitted for bipod and AICS magazine bottom metal.

The rifle was built for a customer who then used it to achieve 5th place in a tactical comp in CZ and top ten rank with his partner for the comp.

it shot superbly and I understand still does.

22-250 could be one of the easier ones, only did a howa aics 22-250 but don't see why it shouldn't work in the T3.
The problem with the T3 is the opening into the action is very narrow and possibly short for a LA. The 308 aics mags have
no problems.

Mag rattle....
To avoid mag rattle one can set the mag system slightly too deep so that the mag won't clip in, after bedding of action/mag system one can fine tune the mag release lever so that it clicks in with a tiny bit of tension.

Thanks for that, I have got a spare stock so might just give it a try then ;)

Semi custom Tikka T3 - Sako Mcmillan varmint stock / Kreiger 24 inch light varmint contour , 1 in 8 twist - 290 neck and chambered for 6.5-55 improved / UKgunworks tactical bolt knob - bolt shrould and action screws....

Is it worth getting the trigger upgraded as I have heard that tikka t3 triggers are excellent as is
cheers

Theres nothing wrong with the standard trigger, it is easily adjusted to provide a safe reliable break, easily cleaned / sears polished.

You can buy aftermarket springs to lower the weight but the standard unit is excellent unless you really must go below the manufacturers release weight….

Changed the spring in my old 595 (Same as t3 I believe) and it allowed the trigger to go that little bit lighter - made all the difference for me. Was looking at a T3 varmint in .308 yesterday...probably gonna be my next rifle...and all these pics aren't putting me off!

Just got my Tikka T3 Tactical in .223 back from Steve Kershaw

Second T3, this one in .308 :)

Fellow shooter very kindly machined me two aluminium stock spacers as the LOP was only 13" on the factory stock, now a comfortable 14.5".

Also raised the comb just under 1" to suit the Sightron 8-32x56 and added an Anschütz rail to the forend

Later this year or early next it will be going into an aluminium chassis when I finally decide which one to get :)
