Thermal scope or add on

Hi all,

I am looking at upgrading my current thermal scope, I’m drawn toward getting an add on for the obvious reason that I can swap it between rifles, however I have been told that a dedicated scope will be better detection wise and image wise. So I’m looking for advice on the pros and cons.
I’m currently considering either the
Hikmicro stellar 3.0 sq50L
Or the
Nocpix bolt H50R

What I’m after is honest opinions from people that have used both, I appreciate that the stellar is probably going to be better but I want to know if it makes a real difference. Or if the h 50r is a nice clear image, for foxes, rabbits etc. out to 250 yds ish.

I am upgrading from a pulsar thermion 2 XQ 50.
The add on would be going on a Swarovski Z6i and a couple of delta titanium’s

Thank you in advance
Mark.

Hi Mark,

I can't give you a comparison, but the Stellar 3.0 SQ50L is on my .308 just now. It's my first thermal scope and is a fantastic bit of kit. No problem detection wise out to 3-400m (all I've needed so far) distinguishing between hare/fox/badger. The LRF/ballistic calculator was relatively straight forward to setup and worked brilliantly out in the field. Was literally point and shoot.

Like you I was going to go for the add on, but was warned off by various keeper friends as much less efficient.
