I’ve always mounted my thermal scopes low to the barrel. Most photos I see show thermals mounted with significant clearance over the barrel.
Is there an advantage to having it higher?
I was getting issues from heat from the silencer mounted low. Lifted it to raise it above the line of the silencer which solved my issue. I was using thermion 2 xl60 so it was quite a big lens.
I went for the innomount 2 piece adjustable quick release mount with offset as you need to mount most thermals far enough back for the eye relief. They are expensive tho!
