Thermal

My 4 year old Pulsar Quantum HD50S does the job just fine, finding vermin, fox, deer, boar...

The newer models have a higher waterproof rating - a sensible thing to consider as the most important reason to pick a particular model, above 'detection range' or FOV etc. 'Rifle Shooter Magazine', current issue, is looking at various NV and Thermal systems on the market. Bizarrely -hmm- they also carry adverts for the kit and brands they recommend... ;) but still some good info there.

This is the only add on worth having..My mate has this and says it blows his XQ50 Helion out the water so doubles as a spotter too! Spotter wise the xq38 is a good option or the xeye.

The xeye range are well worth considering cheaper and better. Had the e3max for a while and not one of shooting buddies have said a bad word. Great warranty also from optical solutions

if you can try before you buy, all thermals will show you there is definitely somthing infront of you and well into the hundreds of yards but with some of the cheaper thermals and even some of the more exspensive ones its the identifaction of the quarry which is a problem. People will tell you that when your looking at things through thermal that you go alot by how the animal moves to give you glues as to what it is and that is very true but alot of the time deer lye down and look like foxes, hares bunch together and look like bigger animals and so on, so if you can try before you buy and make sure what you get will do the job you need and for what its worth if i had the money i would have helion xq50f

I've had a Pulsar XQ38f for over a year now for foxing, it really is an absolute game changer. It took me a little while to get use to identifying things at longer ranges, but I usually know straight away now, when it's a fox, just from how it moves.

The only downside is that if you go foxing with someone else, it's boring as hell for the person without the spotter, as they're just walking around in the dark  I do most of my foxing on my own, as find it more effective anyway.

Personally having used the E3max and Helion XQ38F and the Helions are lots better. Sharper less digitalised image, better palettes, better PIP, replaceable battery , easier recording .. that's from use in the field, the E3max is better than an Axion Key up close, but Axion is smaller, has replaceable battery and much better features for the lower cost, it also has a more natural image.
