Thoughts on S&B 2.5-10x42mm Polar for a CZ550 FS 20” in 9.3x62mm?

Looking for your thoughts on that optic for a spot and stalk, heavy woods rifle, mostly close shots in dense brush against boar, medium sized deer and the occasional small bear (N. American Black Bear).

Also open to recommendations and really wish I could get my hands on one of the last production years of a fixed 4x for S&B or Khales but they are discontinued for 5-6 years now it seems and very hard to find.

In good light (even n woods) a bog standard 6 x 42 S&B takes some beating. Bit more magnification than your post but unlikely to be a problem.

I guess I would have to get my hands on a 6x42 and see, as my main concerns are FOV and having too much magnification when a boar breaks cover at 15 yards.

As far as light, the main areas I hunt always have bad lighting, extremely dense hardwood canopy and brush, light isn’t perfect even in the afternoon.

I will admit my ideal optic from a “vibes” perspective is a European fixed power with a #1 or #4 rectifier

if you come across one of these it sounds like what your thinking of. This one is getting on a bit and there is no highlighting on the logo. don't fret about getting second hand as they are pretty bombproof

I think that for what you want a 1.5-6x42 S&B Zenith with flashdot would be ideal.

P.S. The smallest Polar has a 50mm lens I think.

I would think a variable 1,5-6x42 would suit your needs.

6x42's aren't particularly generous in the FOV department. A 4x36 is probably a better choice for the conditions you describe. The 1.5-6x42 is also a really solid recommendation, but can be hard to find, and you will probably never take it of 2.5.
I am a euro-glass tragic, but worthy of consideration for your job is the Vortex Crossfire 2-7x33. Cheap and I think still available, and surprisingly good. Again, you'll probably leave it on 2.5.
My last scrub gun was a .375 Ruger topped with a Leupold FX-II 2.5x20 Ultralight. Excellent. Selling that scope was not one of my smarter moves. Unfortunately, no longer available, but you might find one secondhand.
In dense brush, the smaller objectives are better for handling too.

Any specific recently manufactured (2010s or newer) Fixed 4x models from S&B, Khales, etc to recommend and any leads on where to get my hands on one?
