I'm currently on my third one, the zip promptly broke on the first, then the press studs fell off the second. To be fair to them, Deerhunter have replaced it each time, with a bit off tooing and throwing with emails and phone calls. The third one has been better, although now showing it's age a bit.

As a coat, I really like the looks and fit, It's really practical in terms of pockets - I wear it for all types of shooting (stalking, foxing, shotgun) It is however definitely a cold weather coat and I do get very hot if doing a lot of walking in it. From spring to autumn, I wear a Craghoppers waterproof coat, which I got from TK Maxx for about £30, which is really good in warmer weather and just as practical.

I am in the market for a replacement colder weather coat, but don't think I'll go deerhunter again, just based on the quality issues.

Ok interesting to know. Have you anu experience with Ridgeline? was looking their gear but they seem to be out of stock on most stuff but it does look well and review seem to be good.

I've tried on a few, but the fit isn't very nice, they seem really baggy especially in the arms. I would like to look at some Stoney Creek jackets.

Edit, I am tall and gangly haha!

Ive got a stoney creek jacket and it is very good also take a look at the fortis stuff ive got one of there sas smocks and that is extremly well made, it took about 8 weeks to get to me as they custom made it but it was well worth the weight 100% water and windproof i will say though it has very little lining so will need layer under it in the winter

I have one,

The seems went in week one, it was dealt with very quickly by the retailer. It’s very heavy and warm.

For stalking I think it’s not that practical, it has gimmicks like a lens cloth and bullet holder, as well as thumb loops. I suspect it’s more appropriate for European driven hunts with plenty of standing around.

It’s in a stuff sack in the boot of my car in case I break down.Plenty of lighter weight practical stuff from stony creek or swedteam.

Iv got a lot of deer hunter gear which I picked up from sportsman gun at a fraction of retail
In their sales. Have to say my tweed has been spot on and the technical jackets excellent. Managed to pick up a down underlay jacket for 99p. Granted it’s bright orange but perfect for wearing under jackets and it’s been the bargain of a century.

I have some expensive Rab and Northface jackets and tbh in terms of value for money they haven’t been apatch on the deer hunter gear.

I have been wearing deerhunter for nearly 10 years now. I usually buy last year's jacket cos it is half the price. Not saying I am tight but..... I like it and it holds its own
No quality issues with mine at all.
I will happily replace mine with more deerhunter when the time comes but I did buy a new last year's jacket last year, or was it the year before? So I don't expect to be needing anything for another few years.

I have a muflon short jacket and rate it, great fit and well made. Like the RAM jacket it's not for the open hill too hot but for high seat work it's my go to jacket, prefer it to the Harkila pro hunter which I sold to make way for the Muflon.

Been wearing deerhunter clothing for a good 18-20 years .bought a ridge line smock for work (not wot it said on the tin) bought a fortis smock &trousers waterproof to go stalking in Ireland in the rain , let's just say I wouldn't buy another .deerhunter for me very good fit and value for money

Had a ridgeline jacket which was fine when stationary, but try walking any distance and it had the breathability of a bin liner. No quibbles with deer Hunter but for waterproof gear I prefer Keela.

Like someone said above I have loads off deer hunter stuff all bought from sportsman for a fraction off price.
Some are so cheap I stock pile them. On my last pair of alamti? trousers out off 4 I bought years ago. Been bloody brilliant
Fairly good quality but for the money u can't complain, dunno if I'd pay full price thou

Was buying full length riding type coats for 30 quid, look a numpty but great for walking dogs in rain without putting ur waterproof trousers on..

Not worn the jacket but been using Mouflon trouser for a couple of years now. As others have said would way too warm for the hill (much prefer layering rather than single items for really active days) but great for winter foxing or sitting in high seat. Not the best in heavy rain but comfy fit fwith plenty of pockets (although zips need a bit of beeswax every so often to keep them running free). Would happily buy another pair for the money. :thumb:

I have a couple of the deer hunter full length jackets, 30 quid each or whatever they were and there great for shooting or walking the dogs. I'm not arsed what I look like, as long as I'm dry doing it im easy lol

I have the Muflon light jacket which is very good. Still bit heavy for mid summer but great looking jacket and practical.

I use the muflon jacket and trousers, for me, its definately highseat/depths of winter gear as i cook off quite quickly, apart from loosing a popper when unhooking my bollox from a barbed wire fence its been faultless,
A good fit for me too which is unusual

I've had deerhunter clothing before, admittedly not a Muflon, I had the ram 2. It looked nice, and was comfortable. Unfortunately it wasn't breathable in the slightest and it leaked like a sieve after the first few outings. I returned it to the retailer and ended up getting a swedteam smock which I am much happier with. I would buy another swedteam product in a heartbeat.

Cheers
