Ive got a 5 shot .22-250 magazine surplus to requirements as it’s becoming a .243.

Used but works perfectly.

No, different internals to the magazines. Identical outside, but the 22-250 595 magazines have a shorter follower and the magazine is correspondingly shorter inside.

Are the 22-250 and .243 not the same?

Getting a .243 mag to use in a .22/250 is a good idea as it allows you to seat bullets longer

Not always. The 6BR I had on a 595 action didn't feed reliably at all.
