Tikka T3 .223 1/12 Twist Reloading Data

Sorry for the delayed response but just want to say thanks for all the information provided above. I decided to for N133 with the 55gr Blitzkings and CCI Primers. My first batch will be made up this weekend, hoping for good results and will post my feedback here for reference.

I have always been advised to use Vit powders due to availability and no current ban implications. I can get hold of the mentioned CFE223 powder Aswell so will compare prices vs quantity and may give that a go. I just sold a box of 53gr Vmax as I couldn't find a decent local supply, I now have a supplier of 55gr Blitzkings on my door step so would like to keep with them (if they show the results I want!)

I'm also looking at finding a good soft point for deer, I'm not sure if I'd want to use the Blitzkings on deer. Can anyone recommend a good soft point bullet?

Have a look at this bullet Product - Sierra Bullets - The Bulletsmiths - the Sierra 65gr GameKing. There are lighter soft points called GameKing but they are for varmints and are too frangible for deer, as a couple of friends found out. They now use the 65's for Muntjac and CWD, just dont' drive them too fast!

The O.P has a 1:12" - Sierra recommend 1:10" or faster for the 65gr.

Having used the Sierra 63 smp on Fox and larger nocturnal vermin , I would consider them suitable for small deer at appropriate ranges.

I use the 55gn V-Max in Tikka T3, 20inch barrel with 1-12 twist with Alliant Comp *C *T.
Using QuickLoad.
Best propellent is the Alliant AR Comp *C *T
IN FORM FIRED CASE, 24.4gns gives 3360fps at 48200psi. 100.4% case fill ( slightly compressed) with 100% powder burn in 19.2 inches.
JBM Stability with 1-12 twist is assessed at 1.505
JBM Stability with 1-10 twist is assessed at 2.167

With the Vit N133 using a 20inch barrel, there will be significant muzzle flash and earlier fouling of the moderator plus reduced speed of around 200fps.

CFE223 even more muzzle flash and fouling of moderator, 15% of unburnt propellant in 20inch barrel, again around 200fps less.

Each to their own, you makes your choice!

Regards
RoyR

Yes I think I may have stabilisation issues with only a 1-12
