Time to call it a day!

I don't want to go into too much detail but due to "circumstances" over the last week I have decided it is about the right time for me to call it a day with my stalking and foxing etc. I have no intention of going into detail on an open forum so all I will say is that I was treated in hospital last week for a heart attack and during my stay in hospital they found several other problems which put me (In their words) At Very High Risk!
I've had a pretty good run of things and have met a lot of very good friends through my shooting (Especially through The Stalking Directory). I will still continue with my Club Clay Shooting and hopefully a bit of .22 Target Shooting and I will also continue supporting and following The Stalking Directory but unfortunately all the stalking, foxing and lamping gear will be getting sold, including my .270 rifle set up.
I would like to say a big thank you to all of you that have befriended me throughout my time on The Stalking Directory.

Sorry to hear this Pete ,only know you from your posts here and on P.W but youve always been a gentleman and given sound advice with humour and freely given friendship to those who asked from the daft to the obscure .Hope you keep on getting better and carry on imparting advice to the less experienced as you have the most valuable thing ever experience hard earned to share with us novices atb Iain

I'm really sorry to hear of your health issues mate. I hope they can be resolved, or at least very well-managed :thumb:

That's sad to hear Frenchie but you have to think about your health before anything else! You are still here though so every cloud and all that.. don't be a stranger on here though

All the best
Paul

Sorry to hear of your health problems, its six years since I had my heart attacks (two within a couple of days of each other) only then to discover I was also diabetic, seemed like the end of the road

However if its any consolation life will be different yes!, and you will need to make some changes , but life can still be good embrace it.

Here's hoping that you can find a way to continue to be involved in the activities that you enjoy, albeit in a less strenuous way.
All the best for the future.

I am truly thankful for all of your replies and kind words and offers. Please believe me that Marlene and I have talked this over and agonised over the decision that I have had to make, and it is entirely My decision and not Marlene's.
When I was discharged from hospital and told that I was at a very high risk of a Stroke and (Possibly more worrying) if I cut myself of suffered any sort of internal injury (Which could even happen with a simple knock in the wrong place) I also stood a high risk of bleeding out if I did not get to a hospital in time.
In the recent years Marlene had been put through enough with us nearly loosing her to a heart attack (We almost certainly would have lost her if it had not been for the Air Ambulance) and then me having a major cancer scare. Since then Marlene has seen me rushed in to hospital far too many times with heart troubles and I really do not want to put her through any more of that, she simply does not deserve any more of the worries I have put on her.
Unfortunately I firmly believe that this really is the right time for this old fart to call it a day and leave it up to the younger, fitter and healthier shooters! I will as I have said continue to follow and support The Stalking Directory and offer help and advice wherever I can.

Kjf - Thank you for such a kind offer, I am really touched and whilst I would like to take you up on it as I have said I simply can not put any more worries on Marlene.

Hello FrenchieBoy, I said my piece earlier to you. Take care of you and yours and keep in touch with your buddies.
Take inspiration from guys like bogtroter and others. I'll look forward to hearing how your getting on from your posts on the SD,:thumb: ATB john

Frenchieboy, I don't know you apart from reading your posts on here, but I would just like to wish you the very best for the future. It's good to hear that, even if it's in some curtailed way you will be enjoying some shooting. I'd merely say two things to you. Firstly, cherish the memories you have collected over your sporting life to date and secondly, when one door closes, another opens. Just look out for it!

Frenchieboy, I also don't know you from Adam apart from reading your posts on here, but may I wish you good health and all the very best in future.
