The pistons are machined to clear the valves ,the blocks on the L200 were machined incorrectly you can see the cutting lines in the block as a result of this the compression finds its way across to the water jacket

Not doing anything to the block it’s 2014 plate not worth throwing a load of money at it I will replace head gasket new radiator then the customer will trade it in somewhere

For the last few days, and the next couple, I’m working up at the top of the drilling derrick and the lift that would normally transport you effortlessly to the summit is out of action, so it’s vertical ladders all the way.

Blackburn Miner Memorial, it was a community project to recognise that the majority of the Lothians were built around mining.
It was designed by a guy from Edinburgh University and fabricated by PPE in Loanhead.
The plinth and installation was my effort

The other day at work, I watched a video stream of a Russian soldier get bombed by a drone in Ukraine. Kid (literally looked like 18 or so) got messed up (left leg had some shrapnel go through is outer thigh). Anyways, the drone circles back around to finish the kid off, and as I'm watching it, the kid starts freaking out, and pulls out a grenade, pulls the pin, and then shoves it in his mouth.

Work can be kind of depressing some days....

Lovely bit of tig there SD.

The cables are regular high tensile wire rope, they probably look like stainless because of the environment out here.

I don’t think my welding would pass any form of inspection, but I thought I did a bang up job.

Funnily enough, the platform manager does have a Brattonsound in his office with a shotgun in it. They use it to fire flares in case the automatic ignition fails on the flare boom.

I could try asking for a loan of it should a boarding party try their luck.
