Tragic incident

My thoughts are with the boy's family. As for "gross negligence manslaughter" - assuming this indeed was an accident, it is absolutely crucial that the full details are made public ASAP so that the shooting community can learn from this tragic event. I understand that there's a legal process underway, but in my opinion, it's more important to prevent the next accident than to ensure that someone is punished for the previous one. Just my view.

This is being covered in another thread so I will copy and paste the reply that I posted there:
My thoughts are with all concerned. Even though we don't know all the details it just goes to show that there is no compromise on Firearm Safety. It can be all too easy to have an accident when out shooting if you do not keep your thoughts on what you are doing. I always used to say to anyone I was mentoring "It's all too easy for an accident to happen but once that accident has happened you can not unhappen it", and this very sad and tragic tale highlights that!
Stay safe guys!

NEVER EVER POINT A FIREARM AT ANYTHING YOU DO NOT WISH TO DESTROY!

And another mantra;
ALL FIREARMS ARE HOT!
