Trained hunter status reverts to DSC1

I have paid for mine, and intend to do it soon.
Already did the NGO Trained Hunter course a couple of years back to move things on,before the DSC1.

Good that more people can take a step into selling carcases.

Indeed, just need some dealers willing to take them at honourable rates !

Wasn't the original Level 1 without it and then it first came out people got a different coloured certificate or am I thinking of something else?

Other way around - Blue includes LGMH qual and Green didn’t. Going to cause a lot of calls from AWs to DMQ to confirm that a DSC2 candidate can sign off a tag on the witnessed stalk if he has a Green DSC1 certificate 🤔 How else are we to know if he has “watched” the video…….

Oh not sure what I'm thinking of then this was pre DSC2

Pretty sure (few years ago) my Hunter status was Grandfathered onto my DSCI upon application.
Kb.
Kb that's what I was thinking but couldn't remember the dates, details or paper colours.

Did you have to pay for the new different coloured certificate also?

Annoying as when I did mine it wasn’t included. Bloody hard work finding somewhere that offers the handling part, that was covered in the dsc but no certificate included!

Just seen the DMQ have released a statement saying watch the videos etc and declaration. Fantastic news, well done dmq.

The first Certificate issued was "The National Stalkers Competence Certificate". That ONE, I should have sent in for an exchange BLUE' DSC1, to include LARGE GAME MEAT HANDLING. (I did not). I have achieved the DSC1 in March 2025. Back to the classroom after 29yrs !:old:

I hope next step is to revert back the DSC2 to 3 stalks... That would made more sense!
Why?

No other practical competency test requires you to do the same thing 3 times. You don’t have to take your driving test 3 times. You don’t have to take your PADI Open Water diving cert 3 times. I could go on.

As an AW, you simply don’t sign off on a component until you’re satisfied the candidate can do it properly. Sometimes someone clearly knows what they’re doing, and one stalk start to finish is enough. Making them do 2 more is a complete waste of everyone’s time. Sometimes the candidate is very unconfident or makes a few mistakes. Then you sign off the bits they get right, then do as many more stalks (or partial stalks) as it takes.

I have very little time for DMQ, who I think are hilariously inept and rather corrupt. But that change did make a lot of sense.
