Training videos Bavarian Mountain hound

The Germans didn't want us to have them.i wonder why people crossing them with all sorts of dogs.years of breeding ruined.
You are correct I made a promise to my breeder that I didn’t break, took me 2 years to get a BGS (that’s the correct abbreviation not BMH) from Germany and yes I am a dog snob. I’m proud of the fact that I had a bitch that I never bred although I was qualified too, that had a pedigree that can be traced back to 1912 the very beginning of the breed.

The only way you’ll get a dog out of Germany live 50 km of me or another member of the KBGS we would have to help you with your training as a member if you don’t fit that criteria don’t waste your time trying to become a member plus I won’t sponsor you to become a member, if another German dog doesn’t see British soil that will be a good thing!

BGS "Bayerischer Gebirgsschweißhund".
Rene my pal had his BGS in his back garden run and went away for a few hours to do something but the local farmer dropped off a calf straight over the garden fence that had died in the field so not fit for human consumption, when he got back the BGS was looking very sorry for itself and most of the calf had disappeared.

The latest breed of bavarian seem a lot different to the original blood lines. My first dog died last year 14 and a half years .old. my new dog 12 months old is a different dog altogether .doesn't seem to be as obedient as the old breed.but time will tell..he's still young and stubborn lol
Cheers
Tom

Well, that seems to answer my question. A BVH is not a thing for me. I don’t shoot enough deer to keep the dog enthused.
Not sure I want a lab. So will keep looking.
Wise decision, my recommendation if you don’t want to go down the lab route would be a patterdale or border terrier!

Personally the jagt terrier really floats my boat but the wife is not keen 🙈

Hold on, you think a BMH is more dog then a well bred digging black terrier. Not a hope.
The well bred jagt terrier wouldn’t hold a candle to a well bred patterdale. Otherwise they’d be used for digging over here. The stuff I’ve seen were very poor and they were supposed to be good. Digging 3 holes and terrier 3ft back from quarry. Not happy unless it’s going their way.

Yes, but I wouldn’t be buying jagt terrier from anyone in the UK , in fact there’s only two breeders where I would buy a Labrador from, that say a lot about the breeding of dogs in the UK doesn’t it?

I’m on about imported dogs. Black terriers going strong, small circles. There aren’t too many breeds that will match a black terrier for drive and courage. If you’re telling people to get a patterdale instead of a BMH, you haven’t seen proper patterdale, because if you have you wouldn’t suggest one as a “less” alternative to a BMH

A mate of mine in England was thinking about getting a Jagd terrier for deer work. I dissuaded him. My mate has a little black terrier, can't remember the breed. Game little bitch that he hunts boar with and uses as a tracking dog. A good Border terrier would be my choice if I was after that type of dog.

There’s your problem, getting a good Border terrier.
