Trapping foxes tips please.

I have a pic of a tiger in a gin trap...."ooh aint it angry"
what no tonic, steady tiger...

You have the bate, You have the trap, Work out how to let him in, Work out how not to let him out, You will then comply with all the rules?

A couple of snares set up along the fence line with a bit of bash or something to make a narrow gap should be enough a lot less trouble than a trap

Best summer bait I found for foxes is cheap fish based cans of cat food. Make a few holes in the tin and hang in a mesh bag.
After a few days starts oozing a pungent odour which seems too work

Years ago now on an outdoor pig unit with electric fencing around the unit they constantly had fox's getting in. I watched them often timing the pulses of current and dive between the wires with no effect.
I suggested making a tunnel for the fox's and fashion a funnel and snare but they didn't.

Chicken unit by me I suggested the same but they haven't thinking the fence would stop them.
I guess you can't drive a nail in a knot 🙄

Yes they certainly do,the pigs do as well the beggars.

If trapping is the best way to get your fox then there are a few golden rules. Firstly, ensure that the cage is large, you can't make it too big, the bigger the better. Secondly, wherever you decide to put it, leave it there. Foxes take time to get used to something new. Do not keep moving it around if you do not capture straight away. Thirdly, make sure that the bottom of the cage is covered by something. Old carpet will work, but cover the metal of the floor with soil or anything so that it will not feel the metal of the cage under it's feet. Fourthly, most baits will work, but a can of dog food gives immediate scent, together with something else (biscuits, or whatever you have to hand) that will last for a longer period of time. Lastly, patience. Keep the faith, it will work. Once you have your fox, consider keeping the trap running for another week or so, just in case it is not alone. Hope this helps.

John suggestion hit the nail on the head. If you can partiton off the run use part if it as the trap. Fox will be accustomed to the pen and won't hesitate in squeezing in through a gap by the door. Look how many foxs get caught in Larsen traps and alike.

YUS Its hard work sometime SD trying to get people to shut a wee gate to the chicken pen before dusk you think it would be an easy thing to do. Ooooooh no. very very very hard to do that seeing as the pen is 60 yds from the house and his office

Phones up in the morning we’ve lost more chickens, bloody foxes must push a shopping trolley to the gate to load up each night. 🙄

A mate of mine swore by using ready cooked chicken from the supermarket. Summer not the best time, too hot, but...

Why don’t you just sit all night until the sun is up it’s only a few hours at this time of the year
