Tre Spade TC 8 or 12?

There are two very important features with mincers. First is low speed, like 80rpm. Second, that you really cannot judge w/o seeing the mincer is fit (and design) of worm and frame.

Chinese and cheaper Italian mincers have very poor fit, and are usually too fast (poor fit allows running low torque motor fast, and gearbox is smaller when the conversion ratio is not as high). Throughput numbers might be impressive, but the produce is poor.

Also pay attention to how the parts come out for cleaning. Chinese have some very stupid desings. They also try to make models look like stainless, and half the part are aluminium or some other lightweight cast.

I wouldn't touch Vevor mincers with a barge pole, oh I actually have one (tried to get affordable SS mincer for ease of cleaning). I don't believe other Chinese mincers in the same price bracket are any different.

What's your recommendation then?

I haven't seen most of the products available in UK.

Tre Spade I've seen/inspected but not used. It's OK, but not on par with Fabio Leonardi that is available in Finland and the go-to manufacturer when buying new for personal use. I don't mean Leonardi is premium product, just that the fit etc. are bit better than on Tre Spade. I'm sure this doesn't apply between every model.

I'd be probably happy with SS Tre Spade size 12, but more happy with similar Leonardi. It's just that Tre Spade is no longer available in Finland, and SS Leonardi is only available in size 22 and up, and quite dear. Currently I'm getting by with cast iron Leonardi size 12, but I hate the cleaning and like said with plated cast iron worm there's always the possibility that plating starts flaking. I do have the SS / aluminium Vevor, but I only use it occasionally for rough mincing (like mince for dogs).

I’ve had a tre-spade TC8 for a few years - never an issue and it chomps through everything I’ve put through it!

How’s the Isuzu going Col? Be good weather for testing it now if it’s anything like here!

Aye it's going great. Cracking big motor. Surprisingly good on fuel too.

We're not too bad down here. No snow, just Baltic 🥶

I started off looking at the no.8 when I bought my Trespade about 3 years ago. Spoke to Rob at Weshinfelder and he recommended the no. 12. Ar only £35 more it was a no trainer really.

I'm looking at getting a new mincer now that I am planning on making more burgers and sausages.

I searched the forum and it's looks like the Tre Spade mincers get a good review.

My question is what would warrant getting the size 12 over the size 8?

I shoot mainly Roe and Reds, and before I eventually got a burger mix that I liked I mainly just butchered them into steaks, roasts and diced.

Thanks

Might you consider a near as new one? Bought as a spare just in case my other ever broke down, luckily it never did. 3 sets plates with knives, sausage stuffer attachments etc. pm me if you are still looking and if this is of interest, I had it on twice only, just to check it worked. Model 12 👍🏻

Might an as nearly new as can be be of any interest? Bought this as a spare (imagine being set to prep the mince for the market only for the mincer to give up? - it never happened, but these things can and do occur!), stainless mouth and worm etc, three sets of plates and knife, I ran it twice just to check it worked and again -I know, I know, but when your livelihood was caught up in it you start to consider the ‘what ifs!’. Sausage making attachments are unused, along with 2 of the three plate/knife combos, the other has literally been used twice appx 15 mins running ‘on the clock’. PM if of any interest, Heading South next month if not before, so could drop off assuming your vicinity is as stated.

Edit, I had this drafted yesterday but forgot to press send, I see you’re sorted now, so no worries (- see what I mean about what ifs 🤣👍🏻). And now I see I didn’t lose the text after all!

How are you wanting for it?

First batch of burgers made tonight with the new mincer.

Talk about making lite work of things. This mincer just devours meat. I reckon I could have 2 should beasts minced in about 25 minutes.

Some nice 5" burgers ready for dishing out and the rest freezing for our own use.

This is the mincer I ended up getting while it was on sale. Plus I got another 5% off to subscribe to their news letter (obviously that will be cancelled)
