Trimmed some 22's...

Interesting, have you chronoed them to see how much faster they are? I suppose they lose speed faster too.

David.

Never seen that before, does it make the round more ‘hard hitting’?
Eley in the UK sell a target bullet like that in their .22 Tenex.

I can seen it makes sense making a tip flat on a round nose cartridge but not, I hope at the expense of accuracy?

Then again in any sort of Ruger 10/22 who would ever likely know? LOL.

Also Eley Match and Eley Team use the same bullet style as I was told all ammunition is loaded to be as Tenex but then that which doesn't make the accuracy requirement is downgraded and sold as the next level down and the next level below that? Or that is what I was once told. S

But those that want to try may know have a way to find out if they haven't the facilities to construct a "cutter"?

I really don’t understand why you would do that.
Where is the gain?
As has been said, factory load’s matching your profile closely are readily available .
Ooohhh! I think I got it.
You convert the little lead shavings into shot and put it in your muzzle loader?
Fiendishly clever.
But really, why?

I get lots of handed in ammunition from my local dealer. Much is from target shooters. I get it cheap.
My income must be less than yours.
I share this information because there may be someone somewhere that it may benefit.
There is also one last reason.
Because I can!

They are literally pointless!

I've found .22LR hollow points often go straight through small critters like rats and squirrels so any idea that might dump more energy into killing something cleanly seems worth a go. I doubt it would affect accuracy as I shoot round nose flat points in my .357 without problems.

I like the idea of @Squirrelbasher 's drill press bit as I assume it'll swage an existing bullet and it'll not alter it much. So I could hollow point my existing target ammo when needed and not have to adjust my zero.

I see what you did there ;)
