Ultimate gun safe

Both my existing cabinets are brattensound so I’ll give a direct comparison when the ultimate safe arrives in a few days - to me the folds are not going to make much difference as the fastest way into a cabinet is to go to any Aldi and buy a cordless angle grinder! Not the most quiet method but neither is Jimmy if open a cabinet with a crow bar.

and by ticking the box it should also protect the guns as let’s face it - the cabinet is a last line of defence…if they got to the cabinet you have bigger problems as they are in your house.

Very true it's the last line, I've seen thieves use portable frame & mastic a theatrical blackout curtain to a steel safe so there's no light signature from the gas axe. A screwdriver and a wedge would get you into that ultimate mind. Thank god not many thieves are much good with a haligan tool. Last year i arrived to 3 coppers blowing out of their ass with a big red key, in less than a minute 3 plastic wedges and a haligan i'd let them in lol.

A risk management company I work with preach a ring within a ring (within a ring) with the 2nd ring impossible to reach undetected so that quiet and slow is not an option once the 1st ring is breeched leaving only loud and fast. The subsequent ring/s only need enough resistance for the cavalry to arrive in time. Increasingly thieves are breaking in through people's roofs so covering the loft with alarm sensors can be a sensible precaution.

Well folks - that was a non-starter! Tried to call the company to get some additional details - the phone number given gives the option to -

“Press 1 for ultimate safes”
“Press 2 for massage imperial”

I’m not even kidding - 020 3670 1705

I pushed 1 (managed to resist the urge 😂😂)

and it gives an automated message about tracking and postage and how you shouldn’t call them for this. Then the automated message hang up on you!

I then tried the two e-mails they provide - one for technical support and one for hrhhill and both were bounced back!

I have just advised my bank to recall the DD and will not be dealing any further with this crowd!

they maybe ok safes - but I will never know as if you can’t contact them for info and support they are no use to me!

if anyone gets an imperial massage though….let us know how it goes! 😂😂

Is it an ultimate safe? Do you know the specs on it?

to be honest most of the cabinets (not the safe type ones) look like they wouldn’t be that difficult to get into with the right tools. 2-4mm with a cutting disc takes seconds!

You’d not need a grinder to get in it,I’m quite sure two heavy duty screwdrivers would do,I’ve got two more safes that are quality,a grinder would be needed for them

I’ve got this one, seems to be built OK - I’d buy another.
Hardly discreet packaging, mine was delivered with the “gun safe” branding all over it, had a comment from the delivery driver - doesn’t seem the best idea.
The locks seem to be designed that you can’t remove the keys from the lock when the safe is opened. While this sounds a good idea, it means you can’t keep the keys on the same key ring as you have to seperate top and bottom keys to open. Sounds trivial but it is annoying in practice!

They are cheap and nasty but plenty of feo's will pass them. They used to advertise allot of returns on ebay with extra discount (that's likely because they get allot of returns)
A determined thief will get into most gun safes. It took me 30seconds to get in a battonsound with a wedge and a haligan bar.

A large jewellers safe will require a seriously skilled professional. They come up on ebay from time to time for £400ish but it's moving them that's the pita
Who will charge £7-800 to open it for you if the combination is lost... 😉

I have a couple of the 5gun versions. I use one on it's side for ammo.
They are not the most robust in the world, but good enough.
The only thing that I complain about is that the locks on mine have different keying and the keys cannot be removed wit the lock open. So you have to have the keys on two separate keyrings.

On the wider issue of gunsafe build, all the security specs in the HO security guidelines are all pretty much redundant since battery angle grinders became a thing. Have a look at some of the youtube videos of breaking into gunsafes.

won't fit my 223 with the moderator attached.

I once saw someone with a .55 boyes anti tank rifle. They had their ammo safe bolted on the wall above the rafle safe.
When they brought the .55, they bored a hole between the two safes and fed the muzzle up through it.

Police were not happy as it sort of left the rifle stored with the ammi-ish. But they couldn't quite get their argument right. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, they let it go once he bolted the two safes together.
