Morning All.

I'm currently waiting on my FAC/SGC to come back from West Mercia as I have recently changed my address. As soon as it is back I am putting in a variation for a couple of new calibres (one for a target rifle and another specifically for a new stalking setup. I am a member of a target rifle club. Does adding new calibres generally require a home visit from the FEO?

Not always, I’ve done a few with West Mercia and sometimes they do it ‘on paper’ and other times want a home visit.

It seems to depend on whether they think circumstances call for one. I did have a visit after moving within the force area and they did say part of the reason for visiting over the variation was the move. It may also depend on what you’re asking for and whether they’re content to assess your good reason remotely or not.

No, but the change of address might in respect of your security arrangements

Thanks. Think I am okay on that front. They made me fill out a self assessment form which stated how/where my cabinets were mounted so they don't have to come out to check.

Thanks Andy, seems logical. Hopefully they don't require a home visit as I fall under the same constabulary as I did before the move. We shall see

Can you not put the variation in now to save time, rather than wait for it to come back with the new address only to send it off again
