Evening All, I have a few permissions and carry out vermin control on these. I am looking for more permissions in the east central belt of Scotland, from the borders up to Dundee and across towards the west. I have BASC insurance, DSC1. Ex Military with 14 years service and over 20 years shooting experience. I run small bore and full bore rifle ranges. If you need a one off job doing to get rid of rats ect, or a permanent solution to any ongoing pest control I am your man. This will be provided all FREE of charge.I use calibres from .22LR up to .308, all moderated, I also have various shotguns, again moderated if required. I have a fully checkable background.

After I had the p*ss ripped out of me I looked at my couple of posts more objectively and realised how they must have looked to the ĺong standing members on here. I am active on numerous FB shooting related groups, pigeon watch, shoot forum ect. But as I said before I have a few permissions, three of which hold Roe. And as l said before a link had brought me back to this site after I had been to the stalking fair in Kelso the other day. I hold DSC1, I am the Secretary and Police Firearms Liaison for a Smallbore Rifle Club. Qualified as a Range Conducting Officer for Smallbore, Fullbore and Gallery Rifle Ranges. A member of BASC for the sake of my shooting insurance.

As I said before we see one post wonders on the other few forums that I am on, so I understand the reaction that I received when I popped up on here after so long away, along with the subject matter I had posted up...

Anyway we live and learn, oh and I am not a Walter Mitty, I did serve 14 years in the Military.....

After a recent attempt by a person who tried to take a large farm off me after hearing about it from my gate bitch i will be very careful who i let near any of my grounds. I just can't trust anyone anymore and most on SD unfortunately after reading my post will rightly be the same.

Yes, there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there. I had another permission with 1800acres, I was doing pest control on it. There was also a pheasant shoot, we were carrying out squirrel culling and the townies who were running the pheasant shoot always had issues with us so we steared clear of the ground they had as much as we could. After a couple of years the farmer gave me the go ahead on the Roe. The bloke that run the pheasant shoot found out that the farmer had given me the go ahead on the Roe. He then made up some crap about me and the farmer cancelled my permission, I later found out that one of the pheasant shoot members was also shooting the deer. MONEY TALKS. But on the other side of the coin, a mate of mine didn't have enough time on a bit of ground so got me on as well. The landowner on that one eventually had his nephew doing that one so we both lost that one. My mate didn't have any ground because of this so I got him on one of mine, job done. But yes you have to be very careful who you deal with. A good mate of mine was taking the odd person onto a bit of ground he has and one particular bloke had been out with him for a couple of hours. At the end of it the bloke said "ok, I will go and have a word with the farmer" my mate said "why ?" And the bloke said to get signed onto the ground". I won't type what the answer he got.... so yes everyone needs to be careful as there are dodgy folk out there, but some decent ones as well.....

Hi
But why would you think that people on here would give you info on pest control permission when they would probably shoot themselves. If I heard of some prime pest control I would not be offering it to a stranger
Geordie

Well the thing is Geordie, I thought that was what this section of the Forum and other sections of the forum are designed for not just for commercial stuff, correct me if I am wrong of course... But to think a little outside the box, I had the opportunity about 18 months ago to have a go at a couple of troublesome foxes, it was a good two and a half hours drive away, so a five hour round trip. I did a couple journeys to the ground, foxes, rooks ect, whilst I was over that way, believe it or not I picked up another permission from another landowner close by. The first landowner was selling feed stock for horses and also kept chickens as pets hence the request to sort the foxes out. While I was there the first owner told the other owner what I was doing and he asked me onto his ground as well. I did, but the distance was a bit prohibitive. Now getting onto my point in this conversation.......... I am a member of another few forums and have loads of contacts on these forums. I have three blokes in the area that I had been offered, I discussed this with a mate of mine who is admin on that forum and he recommended one out of the three to me. I OFFERED THE TWO SHOOTING PERMISSIONS TO THIS BLOKE. As you can imagine he bit my hand off. Both permissions were within two miles of each other and the lad lived less than five miles from the land I offered him. Ok you may say that things like this are few and far between, but they do pop up. I was doing the decent thing and putting some complete stranger I didn't know onto this ground without any financial incentive. It was done on the personal recommendation of a mate of mine, so I wasn't putting a idiot onto the ground. I registered for this forum a couple of years ago and if you see my previous few posts I am not too hot with computers so lost how to find this forum, I came across it the other day and started to post up again. All be it a little misunderstood by the long term members on here. But I have explained myself after I took a step back and realised that what I was thinking in my head did not necessarily come across very well when typed in on this forum. Since I posted up all I seem to be getting is grief from people which is a bit uncalled for, especially now that I explained myself somewhat, on the other forums, newcomers are not treated in this manner unless they really step out of line. I do not believe I have stepped out of line as such, perhaps a little bit less wordly wise compared to others, but I would really appreciate it if you could cut me some slack and think before you type. This is not the way to retain members who could contribute to what looks on the surface to be a good group. Thanks

Just to comment I do think you have attracted a bit more flak than was necessary; albeit asking for ground is a trigger subject especially when coming from a new poster. I do think you have explained yourself fully and I feel sure you will now be welcomed by most on the forum ATB Neal

Just had some good news today, the farmer who I referred to in the above post who put his nephew on instead of me and a mate phoned today. His nephew has started to work and hasn't the time now, so yours truley has been asked to do his ground again. Just shows politeness and civility pays off. I carried out a lot of vermin control, deer control and even a extra pair of eyes and ears when the locals were stealing the spuds, so this gets me the ground again..... jobs a good un
