I've used N165 with 142, 140 and 129 gr bullets and N160 with 123 gr bullets and had some success. Some time ago I dabbled with N560 and gave up. I have found the Hornady manual a good guide as I've mostly been using Hornady bullets. Regards JCS

VV data for the 260 is a joke. I think they deliberately understate the 260 to make the 6.5 x 47L look better.

It is laughable.

It's not a joke, it dates back to the "introduction" of 260 Remington and the barrel length is 18.5" as it was touted as a handy carbine by Remington.

Of course compared to 6.5x47 Lapua (27.5") or 6.5x55 (26.5") the velocities seem low, and I agree it's not in the best interests of Nammo/Nordis/Lapua to invest in new 260 Rem test barrel...

To the OP:

Vihtavuori N160 is good for the bullet weights mentioned. N165 is too slow (your mileage may vary) but if it's speed you're after the answer is N550.

120-125gr I'd start from 40gr N160 and work up from there. Keep the bullet at least 0.5mm of the rifling. 140gr maybe 38gr N160.

N150 is definitely on the fast side, but there may be some applications where you'd prefer a fast powder. VV doesn't publish actual data so neither would I on a public forum, PM me if you like some suggestions.

we use Vit 160 in a 260 AI with a 123gr bullet,works very well

40g of N160 with 140g sierra matchkings and 140g sierra softpoints, 43g N560 with 139g lapua scenars all doing 2600+ fps out of a 26 inch 1 in 8 twist barrel,
might seem on the slow side but accuracy is superb. The .260 is not about speed, the high ballistic coefficient of the bullets makes up for this.

Looks like n160 is the starter, thanks for help with this. Plan to stick to 120gr so want one that will go quite fast to flatten out trajectory out to 200-250yards. I have a 308 for the heavier stuff.

Just looked through my load notes for 260 Rem. Nice cartridge but I changed to 6.5x55 as the rifle I wanted isn't available in Rem.

​My best load was H4350 44.3g for 2772fps ES 16 @ 20thou off the lands in a Steyr closely followed by N150 39g for 2700fps ES 29 SD 10.9 - 125g Nosler Parts

​Good luck with that. I suspect you will find the .308 doesn't come out very often in the future. Regards JCS
