If it’s that bad & your scrapping it anyway, no harm in trying the spare key. They sometimes lose thier coding.

Some immobilisers allow the engine to turn over,but will not allow spark and fuel to reach cylinder head!

AND ...ask if there is a mobile mechanic and take all the ambiguity out of it.. Maybe cost you an hour to find out if its worth repairing. Good luck,john

Dont suppose your wife has run the car into the garage wall and tripped the fuel cut-off? Otherwise - garage as said.

Or someone tapped it with another car while it was parked ?

Have you actually pressed the re-sett button just to rule it out ?

Hi, wonder if ours could be the same?? we bought this car for my Daughter, about 3 years ago, brought it home, parked it up, and it never ran again, when you try to start it, it goes to start, then just turns over, funny thing it, we had a receipt for new timing chain fitted, over £700,00 quid?? we have people out, and they can't diagnose it. when it first went wrong, online it said the temp sensor, i checked that car and it was wobbly, bought a new one form Euro car parts, but still didn't start, the last guy who was an ex VW specialist, said the temperature sensor was saying it's minus 50 degrees outside, cost us £20 for nothing, as no fix no fee, any idea if this is the same thing??? thanks

Just to clarify, are you saying it hasn't run since the day you bought it 3 years ago?

It has fuel at the rail. Has coil packs so can't check individual sparks.

how did it end with the VW Polo not starting ,what was the problem in the end ? 2017
