Wamadet Press instructions.

I’ve just sold a spare Wamadet press via the forum. I thought the instructions from the one I’m keeping - which I purchased in the 1980’s & still use for certain purposes - may be of interest to those of sufficient discernment to own or wish to own such a little gem of a press ;)

My 2nd hand Wamadet came with a similar set of instructions and instructions for the Slube unit. I've yet to get that working and there's a few bits I can't work out what they do.

I'll have to sort some pictures out. They're bits that I can't work out what they do. I have the shell holder post, the old large and small primer posts, the Slube unit and a few other bits.

Presumably you also have the generic so called ‘G, H & I’ dies to suit the bullet (by Lyman, RCBS Et al.) which go in the Slube unit?

Yes, I have them. In the attached photo I have a selection of priming spigots, I assume the larger two are for cases like 45/70 and 45 ACP, but the two items in the bottom of the pic came with the press.

One has a collar that exactly fits the shell holder pillar and a threaded bar then a flat piece of metal. Actually looking at it again it also fits the lube cylinder so it could be a cylinder lifter? Then there is a plain rod with a copper colour top. This may be a stray part.

Smallholder,
That’s interesting. I don’t know if the bottom two items are Wamadet made or not but they certainly aren’t required to operate the Slube unit if the original parts are present.

The Slube unit consists of the parts shown below (there’s also a base plunger hidden away in the lube reservoir). The bent metal rod is used to pull the reservoir off the base plunger when it’s time to refill with lube or change the bullet lube/sizing die.

I have all those parts, including the bent rod. I decided to get the lube sizer working today and worked it all out. A bit slow but works ok.

Possibly a question for a separate thread, but what lubes did you use? Long term I'd like to make my own as I have plenty of beeswax.

I used the Wamadet developed / marketed lubes ‘back in the day’, more recently I’ve used SGP lube from the US & also home made lube based on beeswax. The unit will work with any lube consistency suitable for the typical RCBS / Lyman lube presses.

My old mate John Ellis owned Wamadet. He had a lovely engineering workshop in Barnstaple where I spent many a happy hour. The fancy lube in blue paper wraps was nothing more than heavy machine grease. He rigged up a hydraulic press to force it out of a five gallon drum and through a sizing die. The first time we switched it on a big long black half inch wide sausage squirted across the workshop!

He was busy building a homemade helicopter when I left to go overseas. It was destined to have little jets on the rotor tips.

I lost touch with him years ago but still have a pile of his loading stuff. Twas made to last!

Back in the old days I used red rooster for all my home made lead bullets
