Weatherby Firearms - Where they’re made…

Full history here: The History of Weatherby Inc

We regularly hear the question “isn’t that the same as a Howa?” - Weatherby’s founder (Roy Weatherby) had Weatherby rifles made by well known manufacturers such as Sako, Schultz & Laarsen, Mauser, Sauer… and yes Howa!

Our Mark V model rifles and 307 model rifles are both made from start to finish entirely in our factory in Wyoming, USA.

The MKV has a 6 or 9 lug bolt, 54 degree bolt throw, and trigger tech trigger. It is the strongest action on the market - originally built to withstand Roy Weatherby’s high pressured wildcat cartridges.

The 307 model is a modern take on a Remington clone, featuring a tool-less bolt dissembly, trigger tech trigger, and spiral fluted bolt as standard.

Our Vanguard model rifles have the barrelled actions made by Howa, which are then shipped to our Wyoming facility to be bedded and tested - we also re profile barrels and cerakote at this point. The Vanguard, whilst similar to the Howa has a few key differences - the vanguard has a fully enclosed metal bolt shroud, a fluted bolt as standard, and a completely unique stock.

Thanks for reading 😁

I have a Vanguard in .243
Love the stock , probably one of the best I’ve used .
For what I paid for it it’s a hell of a rifle
Do you not find it rather heavy compared to the .243 you had previously?
I recall holding your old rifle in one hand and a Weatherby in the other (while its owner negotiated an obstacle) and I was struck by the weight of it compared to the P-H.

I don’t find it particularly heavy although not the lightest I’ve hd by a fair bit.
It’s just nice to shoot. The stock is very ergonomically comfy and fits well.
Mine has that green and black rubbery stock

The one I handled had a timber stock, and I thought it a fair lump of a rifle!
