Well Done, Dyfed-Powys

We are all aware of the poor state of firearms licencing here in the UK particularly turnaround times for initial applications, renewals, variations etc.
I thought I would share my recent excellent experience with Dyfed-Powys firearms licencing Dept.
I emailed my variation application off to them at 09:30 on Tuesday 6th September. It was a like for like variation and an increase in Ammunition holding allowance.
I received a phone call from Dyfed-Powys licensing three hours later informing me my variation and ammo holding increase had been approved and the new license was in the post, on receipt of the new license would I return the old one.
My new varied license duly arrived on Friday 10th (due to the postal strike). I sent the old license to them by return post.

Like for like they are pretty quick with. Mine was 3 days turn around so very promising.
I wish I could say the same for my renewal .

I believe that the Dyfed - Powys area has the highest number of firearms per head of the population out of all the regions in the UK. One would therefore expect Dyfed - Powys police to be on the ball with this. They've had plenty of practice!

Renewal has been in 18 weeks now and had extension last week. Firearms officer said they just haven’t got the staff to deal with it and he’s only part time. I feel lucky I even got my inspection
