Glos Police Variation

Well in the past since I moved to Gloucestershire, I have to admit to not being particularly impressed with Glos Police.
It does not help being ex police from a different force and having friends who are/have been FEO's in 4 differing forces, so you know the difference in the way that people interpret the law and do the job.
However, my last renewal was a timely affair with the renewal done on time.

Even better, I put in a one for one variation to change calibre last Thursday, handing in the form at Police HQ in Gloucester that lunchtime as I was passing.
This Wednesday I got a phone call asking 2 questions. 1) had I forgotten that I still need to vary the mod ( NO I have the spare parts to convert it to the new calibre) and 2) I had not handed in my old licence..... No, I kept it as you said up to 8 weeks... I need it for ammo purchase and showing at various ranges I will be shooting at. In the past I have collected the new one one, checked it and handed the old one in at your HQ front desk....
I now expected some grief....
Fine say the gentleman, it will be printed at 3 today, and will be waiting there for you!
I was gobsmacked...... thank you Glos, I cannot moan at a 6 day inc a weekend's turnaround!

I have to admit to not being particularly impressed with Glos Police.
All my previous dealings with Gloucestershire in the past also left me far from impressed.
It's very good to know that things have changed, long overdue.

Not urgent I know, but I put in for an ammunition increase. Heard back in May, asking questions about storage. Not a peep since. Surrey/Sussex.

I'm in no particular rush but it gives you an idea of where things currently stand.
