West Lothian Stalkers, landowners, farmers and anyone with an interest in sustainable Deer Management. Please pass the message on. On Monday, 18th September, The West Lothian Deer Group are holding their AGM. It is being held in the Fauldhouse Partnership Centre, Main Street Fauldhouse. 7.00pm existing members meet to formalise the committee, set fees and ratify changes to the constitution. 7.30 meeting opens to the general public and recruitment of new members. 7.45 Chairman will welcome and and address the gathering. 8.00pm the floor is given over to our guest speaker, Jamie Hammond, SNH. After this we have an open forum with time for questions. Our panel will hopefully includes several high profile members of the stalking world. Already confirmed are Jamie Hammond from SNH as our guest speaker, Anton Watson, Forestry Commission Ranger Manager for central Scotland, police officers from West Calder are also indicated they would like to attend. The local councillor also stated his intention to be there. Invites are also out to two other Deer Group chairmen. We have apologies from LDNS but we may host a meeting with them later in the year or early next. Even our local MP has shown an interest and has been invited but will need to let us know closer to the date. It is open to all with an interest in stalking and deer management within West Lothian. Our boundaries are defined by, but not limited to, West Lothian. Our membership and training courses are available to those living out with the area. The forum will include item for discussion like training, mentoring, DMQ Level one courses, progression to Level Two. What can we offer? Come along and find out on the night. Our EFAW+F course saw 12 local stalkers gain or renew their certificates at a cost too low to publish.
Our first level one course is being planned at the moment with 9 of the ten spaces provisionally booked. Again we will keep the cost as low as possible.
We have two level to stalkers interested in carrying out "Introduction to Stalking" outings on their own ground for those wanting to get involved and we are encouraging others to get involved.
We are active members of LDNS.
Hope to see you there. Jim Paxton, chairman.
