Yep, must agree with you...I've got .22, 17, and .243, but really like my wee CZ .22. If I was to choose, it would be the .22

.308 Even though I love the 6.5x55 (and my .22LR), and the bigger stuff, I just think it is about perfect. It's relatively efficient, inherently accurate and deadly. You can't ask for much more.

The 308 is the worlds favourite cartridge since many years. Possibly the best choice if you don't re-load.
I think the 308 is a good compromise between a long range and a woodland cartridge. Not too much & not too little power.
Sits just between a 7-08 and a 338 Federal. Perfect...

I have always enjoyed my 243, it just does everything fox to stags, however yesterday i picked up a Manlicher 30:06 and popped a swarovski scope on it and wow that is a nice thing to shoot. I got rid of the HMR, it just did not work for me on the ground i have, and so tended to take either the cz 22 or cz 243. I am working up loads for the new rifle at the moment and look forward to chasing stags with it later in the season.

+1 but do remember that the French eat snails and prefer to put their pills up their ass, that and the chicks don't shave all the important bits. But they have a lot of wild boar so their good to be friendly with.

I do not have a favourite calibre ............................................ they all have their good points be it .24" (.240") or .30 calibre.

I have not read the whole thread but I see even the OP says calibre then list cartridges. Perhaps an edit of the title to:-

What's your favourite cartridge?

Would be better.
