I got a .22lr, .17rem, .222 and a .270 I love them all but the .17rem stole my heart its a sweet little caliber and deadly to anything I've pointed it at. But if you forced me to choose one it would still be the 17rem that stayed
I shoot a .17 hmr , .22-250 and .308 . The hmr and 250 are tools and simply work , that's not to say I dont enjoy using them but you know what I mean . The .308 brings a smile to my face even just getting it out the cabinet . I love using that gun and if I could only keep one it would be the .308 . I love the way it hits so hard . However the.17 is a great little round on vermin
22/250 was my rifle of choice till I got my hands on .308 and that the gun for me. They could take the rest away and leave me with .308 and I wouldnt moan. The stopping power is great and it doesnt kick like a mule.
I love my 30-06 for the flexibility it offers me. The bullet weights available has allowed me to use it for all kinds of deer, boar, fox and twice on Bison (even though it needs a well placed shot). Reloading for it is great fun as you can possibly keep experimenting for ever!
I also wonder why owning two rifles chambered for the same cartridge is it appears such an indication of favouritism.
If this was the case then one could claim that I have many favourites after all I own Three rifles in 270 Winchester, used to be four but one is now a .280AI, so that comes under both calibre and cartridge then there are three rifles in 6.5mm oe .26 calibre although each is chambered for a different cartridge. Then we have .30 calibre hmmmm well if we include 303 British, of which I own five chambered in and another in .303 IMP, as a .30 cal then I own the grand total of Twelve rifles in .30 calibre. Further if we lump the 7.62mm Nato in with .308 Winchester then there are four of those along with a 30-06 and a 30-30. Am down to only three 7mm's after having to sell off two DWM Boer Mauser's to help fund a vehicle change after the nice "White Van man" wrote off the car for me. The insurance payout was pitiful.
So as I said earlier I don't actually have a favourite calibre as I like a lot of them .
